On Monday September 30 Loyola will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day. This day seeks to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.
While this is a full uniform day, students are encouraged to accent their uniform with orange. This could be with orange socks, an orange tie, orange jewelry etc. Students will be provided with orange ‘Every Child Matters’ stickers in their period one class. We will have a display of art and resources to commemorate the day in the atrium.
Students are also encouraged to bring in a loonie or a toonie to be donated to Six Nations Child and Family Services to support their ongoing work with the legacy of residential schools. We thank you for your support as we continue the journey of reconciliation.
